Classics of Ebony Radio Show is a one hour program featuring the lives and music of Black composers and performing artists (of the classical stage) from antiquity to the present day. It is produced and hosted by Nevilla Ottley. The show was aired weekly without interruption from May 4, 1976 to July 20, 1997 over WGTS-FM 91.9 in the Washington, D. C. area. Music presented includes symphonic, ballet, opera, oratorio, art songs, spirituals, solo instrumental and movie scores performed by both major organizations and artists, and by outstanding unknown artists, sometimes using historic recordings. At present, Classics of Ebony Radio Show is seeking a home for syndication, and funding for productions, live and recorded. Here are some samples of the music. |
